HUNGVILLOSA
One of the main crops in autumn fodder mixtures. It is drought tolerant, high in protein and produces a high green mass with good yield security. Can be grown well in poor conditions with a leguminous stover.
Its main staple crops are rye, winter wheat and triticale. It produces very dense, intensive stands, excellent erosion control and is a very good weed suppressor. It develops a deep, dense root system, is drought resistant and a good winterizer.
It can be grown successfully in sandy soils as well as in clay loam. In unfavourable sandy soils, it is very effective when sown with cane. It is an important component of the Landsberg mixture ( 35% hairy vetch, 15% purple testicle, 50% Italian perch, 60 kg/ha ), which, in addition to providing early, high mass, high protein forage, is an excellent pre-sowing crop due to its nitrogen fixation.
